R.J. Helton (born 17 May 1981) is a contestant on American Idol, who finished 5th on the first season of the competition.

R.J. performed in the third group. He sang "I'll Be There" by the Jackson 5. Although he was originally eliminated, he was chosen to compete in the Wildcard round.
